I was fortunate to have a good friend give me a fantastic read for my birthday this year:

The Invention of Air by Steven Johnson
“The Invention of Air” by Steven Johnson – Published by Riverhead Books
I normally take quite a while to finish a novel or any other book that doesn’t involve any illustrations merely because I just don’t have a lot of time. In this case, I savored the story within as Steven Johnson illuminates a story of a scientist/inventor in one of the most exciting eras in history. I am a natural history hound, and lately have fallen under the spell of biographies about scientists and inventors Like Tesla, and Ben Franklin. In THE INVENTION OF AIR we learn about one of Franklin and Jefferson’s contemporaries, Joseph Priestly, and how he helped discover the properties of air, electricity, and other wonders that we take for granted.

Joseph Priestly - Snappy Dresser
Although the narrative can sometimes get tenuous, I was still curious to turn the pages as I became more and more involved with people of that time who had the natural curiosity to question the functions of the world around them. IT’s a short read at 215 pages, and has a fantastic bibliography for people like myself, who want to take the journey a step further.
Happy Birthday to me!

Jawas In the Stitch Wars Exhibit
Here’s a crazy Link to an interetsing exhibition. I’d go if I knew where in the hell Lauderhill, FL was.
